Oak Wilt

Oak Wilt is a major potential threat to oaks in Big Country. So far, we do not know of any confirmed cases, though there are confirmed cases of Oak Wilt in neighboring Heritage Oaks.

11/8/2018: Oak Wilt Presentation by Clay Bales

On November 8, 2018, the BCNA hosted a presentation by Clay Bales of the Texas Forest Service from Texas A&M University. Below are links to notes and slides from his presentation.

  • Notes and Slides from 11/8/2018 Presentation
  • Oak Wilt Handout by Texas Forest Service

Please note that Clay Bales is not available to diagnose oak wilt cases. If you suspect oak wilt, you will need to contact a certified arborist (there is a list available at www.texasoakwilt.org) to review the situation. If oak wilt is found by your arborist, then you are encouraged to contact Clay.
